Genesis GV70 Project Overland makes its debut in Europe, marking the brand's first foray into off-roading. Collaborating with German off-road experts, Delta 4x4, Genesis has transformed the GV70 into a more rugged and adventurous version. Although currently a concept, the possibility of production remains uncertain. Delta 4x4 began by enhancing the suspension system and widening the track of the crossover. The addition of 18-inch Classic B-Rugged wheels and black plastic flares on the wheel arches further enhance its off-road capabilities. On top, a custom-designed roof rack provides ample space for storage boxes and recovery boards. The build is completed with additional lighting, including four LED pods on the front bumper and a wide, dual-row LED light bar on the roof. While interior photos have not been released, it is expected that the cabin will resemble the standard GV70 model.
We mustn't tarnish the opulent interior that we so admired by trampling in with muddy hiking boots; rubber floor mats are a wise choice for this purpose.
Genesis has made no significant changes to the GV70's mechanics. In Europe, the crossover is equipped with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that delivers 201 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. This power is transferred to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Another engine option is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 304 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. However, the 375-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 available in the US is not offered in Europe.
As for what lies ahead, we can only speculate. Genesis has announced a partnership with Delta 4x4, suggesting that this may not be the brand's last off-road-focused creation. Given the ongoing demand for off-roaders, it would not be surprising to see one displayed in showrooms.
